PROPOSAL
For my final project, at first I wanted to do something that represents the difference between young memories from childhood and older memories from early adult life, but after doing the research project I realized that all memories fade, except the essential ones in our life. There isn't much of a thread in my pictures except for the theme of self discovery. I feel we're always discovering things about ourselves, that everyone starts out as a blank canvas and paint is slowly added to our canvas throughout our lives until the end when we've finished our masterpiece. I want to show both self discovery and memories fading in my piece. To do that, I was intrigued by what I ended up doing for my research portion of this project with that photo of Boltanski - I took his photo and tore up the edges, then filled a glass dish with water and put the pieces of the photo in the water. Some pieces sank, some floated, and they all moved in their own way when the dish was spun. What I want to do with my 100 photos is to take a variety of glass containers, fill them with water and other transparent liquids like vegetable oil, juice, vinegar, and tear up my some of my images, put them in the liquids, and make them interactive - some will spin, some will have spoons you can stir them with, that sort of thing. My text will have it's own dish to float around in, none of it will be torn up though, it'll all float together. That's my idea.
